Dominic Bledsoe (M.S. student) is working on SAPPHIRES in the Diagnostics team. Dom came from St. Olaf College with a degree in Mathematics and Engineering Studies.
John Flynn is working toward a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He is working on pyrolysis-to-atmosphere and the oldest human problem: how to make things catch on fire. John has an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
Karia Del Toro Garza is an undergraduate researcher in her fifth year in Mechanical Engineering. She is working on the Protection team in SAPPHIRES.
Rayeedul Siam is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He works on R.E.S.P.E.C.T. exploring interrelationships between humans and built environment components with the use of agent-based models and network theory. Dr. Siam received M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from Oregon State University and a B.S. degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). During his graduate studies, he was the recipient of the 2020 Michael Kyte Region 10 Outstanding Student of the Year Award.
Taylor Kennedy Frenchi is the program manager for the Bond group. She works directly on the major projects R.E.S.P.E.C.T. and SAPPHIRES. She is also a current graduate student pursing her Masters in Conservation Biology. She came to the team with a public health and conservation background.
Zahra Heidari is a Ph.D. student in Systems Engineering at CSU. She works on the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. project exploring representations of well-being during transitions that are coupled with energy changes. Zahra came to CSU after several years of work experience in climate-smart agriculture. She holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Tehran.

Paige Ambord was a post-doctoral researcher contributing to both SAPPHIRES and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. from 2021 to 2023. Paige worked on evaluating the relationships among privacy, self-determinacy, and technology use, as well as the institutional structures that may support Healthy Homes. Paige received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, focusing on urban sociology, community, property, and place. As of 2023, she is an Assistant Professor at UNC Asheville.
Sagar Rathod got his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences in 2022, co-advised by Jeff Pierce. His dissertation title was “Earth, Humans, and Metals: Investigating the Role of Iron and Other Metals in the Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Energy Systems.” This work was a collaboration with researchers at Cornell University and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). He is now a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in the LaFollette School of Public Affairs.
Mariam Fawaz earned a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2022, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign(*). Mariam was the pyrolysis-to-atmosphere OG, with a dissertation entitled “Emission of Organic Aerosols from Wood Combustion: Bridging the Gap between Aerosol Science and Wood Pyrolysis.” Mariam is now a data scientist at Early Warning.
