Q: Can portable air cleaners improve my indoor air quality?

A: Portable air cleaners with a filter and a fan can reduce particle levels substantially. Make sure the filter is High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) quality. Some air cleaners have an ultraviolet (UV) light, which can also kill viruses if the air is exposed long enough. If the air cleaner does have a UV light, make sure that it is listed to standard UL2998, which indicates that it does not emit ozone. – Paul Francisco
