SAPPHIRES is a holistic engineering collaboration to transform homes for public health, especially with regard to clean indoor air. AERIE people are contributing to the development of technology in the Protection team and advising on the Diagnostic and Delivery teams. SAPPHIRES is funded by the National Science Foundation.
Radon: AERIE is performing research on the impacts of Radon Resistant New Construction measures on indoor radon levels, with funding from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Home indoor air quality assessments: AERIE is partnering on a project to evaluate the benefits of indoor air quality monitoring packages on resident behavior, with funding from the National Institutes of Health.
Electrification: AERIE is performing an impact evaluation of replacing propane furnaces with electric heat pumps in homes served by the Colorado weatherization program, with funding from Colorado’s Center for Employment Opportunities.
