Paul Francisco
Senior Research Engineer, Energy Institute

Paul’s research focus is at the intersection of energy efficiency and indoor air quality, primarily in low-income housing. His focus is on field-measured performance of housing interventions. He has chaired ASHRAE’s Residential Ventilation Standard (62.2), Environmental Health, and Residential Buildings Committees. He also directs a weatherization training center at the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission in Illinois, where he teaches Building Diagnostics and Healthy Homes principles to practitioners. Paul is a former chair of the Building Performance Association Board of Directors and was also a past Board member of the Building Performance Institute.
Misa Soto
Research Associate I, Mechanical Engineering

Born and raised in the rural community of Glenns Ferry in the state of Idaho, Misa Soto’s interest in healthcare, mathematics, and innovative technologies led to his pursuit and completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2023. Throughout his undergraduate career, he worked in a cell and tissue engineering research laboratory working with polymer characterization and formulation, worked as a Health Educator for the University of Arizona College of Public Health Mobile Health Unit increasing accessibility to health screenings for vulnerable Southern Arizona communities, and developed his leadership skills across a multitude of extracurricular activities. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the outdoors, discovering new restaurants and coffee shops, painting, and spending time with friends and family.
